Difference with Other Home Care Providers
Innovation: We pride ourselves on introducing the latest home care innovations to Ireland. We were the first to incorporate teleconfirmation technology, rigorous induction training for carers and e-cert training for clients. You should ask any other providers you are considering what they do differently.
Healthcare Experience: All our Client Care Managers are qualified nurses or come from a social care background. With many offices nationwide we have a depth of home care experience to call upon that is unmatched in Ireland. As home care is still a relatively new addition in the care spectrum many new providers don’t have the depth of experience and professionalism of Comfort Keepers.
HSE Preferred Provider: Comfort Keepers is a HSE Preferred Provider of Home Care Services in Dublin/Mid-Leinster. You should ask other providers you are considering if they have achieved preferred provider status with the HSE.
Telemonitoring Technology: We were the first care provider in Ireland to introduce a telemonitoring system to ensure your carer arrives on time. Such systems are complex and need to be monitored 24 hours a day. You should ask any other provider you are considering how they monitor their carers to ensure they arrive on time.
Irish Private Home Care Assosiation: Comfort Keepers is a founder member of the IPHCA which is devoted to increasing home care standards in Ireland. We successfully campaigned for the removal of VAT on Home Care services and have been campaigning for regulation of the sector.
Tax Relief: Because of all of our carers are employed directly by Comfort Keepers you can claim tax relief at up to 41% if your loved one is incapacitated. Some home care “agencies” do not employ their carers directly and as a result you may not be able to claim tax relief. You should ask other providers whether they employ their staff directly. If the carers are not directly employed the client may have Employer PRSI obligations with the Inspector of Taxes.
Rigorous Recruitment: We believe that if we recruit caring people, train them well and monitor the care they deliver closely we will provide excellent care. With six different background checks we vet our carers rigorously. Ask other providers whether they carry out Garda Clearances themselves or whether they merely rely on documentation given to them by the carer.
Training: We have a comprehensive training programme to ensure that our carers are well equipped to care for your loved one. We have collaborated in producing a FETAC accredited course specifically for carers working in the home and have our own dedicated training manager. Ask other providers whether they train their staff or merely rely on certificates given to them.
Constant Monitoring and Review: We constantly review our clients’ needs and adjust their care plan accordingly, so that suitable care is always delivered. We have a dedicated reviewer whose sole role is to review clients’ needs. We also operate a 24 hour oncall service that constantly monitors the care delivered.
