Live-in care is a care service that provides security and peace of mind through the support and assistance of a carer living and staying with you on an ongoing basis in your house. A direct alternative to a nursing home this means you can remain in the comfort and familiarity of your home without compromising the level of care and support received.
Some of the reasons we know live-in care works:
People value their independence and want to stay at home
People don’t want to change their routines and have to fit in with others
The family want the freedom to visit and call whenever they want to
Less traumatic for families than a loved one being admitted to a nursing home
Many people want to stay with their pets
The care changes simultaneously with needs
The costs are comparable with many nursing homes
Who is Suitable for Live in Care?
Live-in care is generally suitable for people with low to moderate care needs who need ongoing support at home. These would include people who are older and suffering from:
Alzheimer’s Disease
Parkinson’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Motor Neurone Disease
How Does It Work?
Having formulated a detailed care plan in conjunction with the family we generally introduce two live-in carers to each client. They work on a one week on, one week off basis. This provides the carers adequate rest time and also means that in the case of carer illness there is another carer who is familiar with your loved one and their care needs. They sleep in the home and will require their own bedroom.
The big advantage of live-in care is that you have the same carers stay with you on an ongoing basis and so you benefit from a continuity of companionship, routine and care.
